Policies

At Liberty Hill School of Music, we believe in transparency and communication. That's why we have provided detailed policies below to help you understand what you can expect from our program. We encourage you to review these policies carefully and reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns.

PAYMENT POLICY

Tuition for Private lessons are as follows:

  • $140 per month for 30-minute private lessons, taken once per week. (Most students only take 30 minute lessons, unless longer lessons are suggested by the instructor.)

  • $210 per month for 45-minute private lessons, taken once per week.

  • $210 per month for 45-minute SEMI-PRIVATE lessons (no more than 2 students), taken once per week. (Voice & guitar only)

  • $280 per month for 60-minute private or semi-private lessons, taken once per week.

  • $35 per trial lesson for a one time 1/2 hour lesson (per instructor)

  • $70 per month for 30 to 45 minute lessons with 4-6 students per class (piano & guitar)

If your FIRST first lesson falls in the middle of the month, you or your child's tuition will be prorated for the Ist month to reflect only the lessons you actually receive. After that, a monthly flat rate will be charged and tuition remains the same each month. Tuition is invoiced on the 1st of the month and due by the 5th of the month. If payment has not been received by 11:59pm on the 5th of each month, a $15.00 late fee will be assessed as of the 6th of the month.

No tuition credits are offered at this time.  If your child needs to miss a lesson for any reason, please contact your instructor as a courtesy. In the case of a teacher cancellation, a makeup lesson will be offered based on instructor/studio availability.

Occasionally, students will receive fewer lessons in a month due to the presence of a major holiday. However, all students receive extra lessons throughout the year because some months have more than 4 weeks. Months with 5 lessons balance out the occasional months where a holiday causes a student to receive fewer lessons. When comparing tuition between studios, remember that some studios increase tuition or skip lessons for months that have an extra (5th) lesson. At Liberty Hill School of Music, the 5th lesson is always included at no extra charge.

Transactions declined because of insufficient funds, past expiration dates or closed accounts, incur a $15 fee in addition to the month’s tuition charges. To avoid unnecessary fees, please remember to let us know if you close your account, change banks or want to use a different account/credit card, or need to update the information on an existing credit card.

The Academic Year

The Academic year for music lessons begins the week of August 14, 2023. Lessons will continue through Friday, May 24, 2024. Summer lessons will start on Monday, June 3, 2024. A minimum of 5 summer lessons are required in order to retain a place in the teaching calendar for the next Academic year.  These five summer lessons are included in the 40 weeks of lessons taught in the calendar year. Summer lessons are flex days to accommodate personal vacation schedules.

Yearly tuition is as follows:

30-minute lesson once a week = $1680.00, paid in monthly installments (12 months @ $140.00)

45-minute lesson = $2520.00, paid in monthly installments (12 months @ $210.00)

45-minute lesson = $3440.00, paid in monthly installments (12 months @ $280.00)

Studio closures

Liberty Hill School of Music follows the Liberty Hill ISD calendar for major holidays only.  For example we will be closed for Thanksgiving break, Christmas/Winter break, and Spring break. There are no tuition adjustments or make-up lessons given for lessons that fall on the above major holidays because all students receive additional lessons throughout the year at no extra cost on months where an extra (5th) week occurs.  If the Liberty Hill ISD is closed for a staff in-service/professional development day, we are OPEN. When in doubt please call/text/email the owner/office manager so you do not forfeit you/your child's lesson.

make-up policy

Please recognize that you/your child's lesson time is reserved specifically for you/your child on a specific day & time. This means that you/your child's lesson slot is unavailable to other students and the instructors at Liberty Hill School of Music have made a commitment to instruct you/your child at that time. Please make every effort to come to you/your child's lesson and avoid scheduling other activities during that time. Consistent attendance helps ensure good progress.

Make-up lessons are only offered to students in the event an instructor has to cancel class. Unfortunately our studio does not offer makeup lessons for student cancellations due to instructor availability and studio space availability.

If you must cancel please notify your instructor as a courtesy so they are not waiting for someone that is not going to be there.  Never cancel a lesson because you/your child has not had time to practice. It is better to come in and review the material so progress is not delayed another week.

withdrawal

In the case of a student withdrawing or discontinuing lessons indefinitely, parents/guardian, not minor students, must contact the studio owner/office manager, NOT YOUR INSTRUCTOR, no later than the 15th day of the month for withdrawl from lessons and cessation of tuition charges. Withdrawl notice submitted after the 15th of the month will result in tuition being charged for the following month even if you choose not to or are unable to attend those lessons. You may either email lhmusic512@gmail.com or call/text us at 512-350-5607. To avoid potential miscommunications, we do not accept communications with your instructor, they do not handle billing. Please contact the owner/office manager.

leave of absence

In the case of a student discontinuing lessons temporarily, parents/guardians, not minor students, must contact the studio owner/office manager, NOT YOUR INSTRUCTOR, no later than the 15th day of the month for withdrawal from lessons and cessation of tuition charges. If you must miss lessons for an extended period of time (more than 2 weeks), please let us know with as much advance notice as possible. It is sometimes possible for a student to return to lessons in their old time slot, but we CANNOT “hold” or guarantee the student’s old time slot when the student will miss lessons for an extended period of time and does NOT wish to be charged during the time when lessons are being missed. In order to hold your spot, full tuition is required. You may either email lhmusic512@gmail.com or call/text us at 512-350-5607. To avoid potential miscommunications, we do not accept communications with your instructor, they do not handle billing. Please contact the owner/office manager.

laTE ARRIVAL

Please note that students arriving late will not have their lesson time extended. Our instructors typically have many students scheduled consecutively throughout the day and they will not impose upon another student’s lesson time. If you arrive late and your teacher is not in the waiting area, please go directly to your teacher’s room and let him or her know that you’re present so no additional time is lost. If you’re running more than 5-10 minutes late, it may be a good idea to call ahead and let us know that you’re on your way, but running late.

SWITICHING INSTRUCTORS OR INSTRUMENTS

As a courtesy to the instructor, we do require notice by the 15th of the month prior to switch instructors/instruments for the following month. Since our teachers are paid by the month this allows time to find a replacement student, and time for communications between instructors to ensure lesson continuity.

SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS

Occasionally, a teacher may miss a lesson due to an illness or family emergency. Whenever this happens, the school will arrange for a substitute teacher or will attempt to reschedule your lesson. We’ve found that many students actually enjoy an occasional lesson with another teacher.

RECITALS

Recitals are held per year, typically in late Spring. Participation is optional, but highly encouraged. Information regarding recitals will be communicated in advance of recital dates. Students interested in participating in a recital will be able to sign up prior to the recital date. Students will begin working on a recital piece with their teacher 4-6 weeks prior to the recital. A recital fee will be due prior to each recital.

Space permitting, students who are not performing at a recital are welcome to attend. We occasionally take photos of students performing at recitals and sometimes post them on our school bulletin board, a digital picture frame in the waiting room, Facebook and our school web site. If you would prefer not to have you or your child’s photo displayed, please let the studio manager know via email LHmusic512@gmail.com.

Occasionally the studio will engage in community performance opportunities. These performances offer an invaluable platform for music studio students to showcase their talents, gain confidence, and connect with the community. These opportunities not only enhance the learning experience but also contribute to the cultural vibrancy of the local area. We will explore various avenues to create these performance opportunities, each with its unique benefits and audience reach.

We like to partner with local businesses and events, such as cafes, bookstores, and community festivals. These venues are often looking for live entertainment to attract customers and create a pleasant atmosphere. By performing in such settings, students get the chance to play in front of diverse audiences, helping them to adapt to different environments and improve their stage presence. Additionally, these partnerships can foster a sense of community support for the arts and create lasting relationships between our studio and local businesses.

CARE OF YOUNG CHILDREN

The school is not responsible for providing supervision before or after class. Parents with very young students are asked to remain in the school during lessons. Students are not to be left at the school for excessive time before or after class. Your child’s safety is important to us. Please make arrangements to pick up your child as soon as the lesson is over.

Additionally, siblings of students are welcome to wait quietly in our lobby during their siblings’ lesson time, with adult supervision. Since quality lessons require attention and concentration, we ask that children who are not participating in lessons remain with their parent, and do not play or run in the hallway. Magazines, books and crayons are available, but noisy activities are discouraged, as they could be distracting to students in lessons.
